Text EntriesGang Starr was an east coast Hip-Hop duo that consisted of Massachusetts native MC Guru (Keith Edward Elam, 1961 – 2010) and Texas native DJ/producer DJ Premier (Christopher Edward Martin, b. 1966). Their style combined elements of New York Jazz and Hip-Hop. During their career, Gang Starr helped pioneer the New York Hip-Hop sound. Gang Starr is considered one of the best MC-and-Texas recording artists of the early 90s.
