Step in the Arena is the second studio album by Hip-Hop duo Gang Starr released on January 15, 1991 by Chrysalis Records. In 2007, it was named the greatest Hip-Hop album of all time by IGN.com.

Gang Starr was an East Coast Hip-Hop duo that consisted of Massachusetts-native MC Guru (Keith Edward Elam, 1961 – 2010) and Texas-native DJ/producer DJ Premier (Christopher Edward Martin, b. 1966). Their style combined elements of New York Jazz and Hip-Hop. During their career, Gang Starr helped pioneer the New York Hip-Hop sound. Gang Starr is considered one of the best MC-and-Texas record artists of the early 90s.

Front cover: Two black men are standing stairs at a train station. Step in the Area is printed on the bottom and Gang Starr’s logo is printed on the top right. Back cover: Pictured is an abandon building and a black and white photo of a group of men in the left corner. The track list and credits are printed on vinyl.
