"Born & Raised In Compton" is the debut song from DJ Quik's debut studio album, Quik Is the Name. The song was released in 1991 on Profile Record. DJ Quik produced and wrote the song.and includes samples from Isaac Hayes' "Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic," Funkadelic's "Hardcore Jollies," 8th Day's "She's Not Just Another Woman," and N.W.A.'s "Compton's N the House." On January 15, 1991, the song was released as a single.

DJ Quik (David Marvin Blake, b. 1970) is a rapper, songwriter, DJ and record producer from Compton, California. DJ Quick is known for his production of G-funk sound in West Coast Hip-Hop where he collaborated with Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, 2Pac, Erick Sermon and Shaquille O'Neal. DJ Quick’s stage name reflects his ability to produce songs in a short period of time which helped get him his first label deal with Priority Records where he released his debut album, Quik Is the Name, in 1991.
