This poster advertises a special concert series from the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra in 1999, with former Count Basie Orchestra leader, Frank Foster (1928-2011). Foster was a Jazz saxophonist, flautist and composer, and received two Grammy Awards for his arrangements.

The Seattle Jazz Repertory Orchestra was founded in 1995 by Clarence Acox (b. unknown) and Michael Brockman (b. unknown) with the goal of expanding access to and preserving the Jazz tradition in the Seattle, Washington area. The 1999 orchestra line up included major local Jazz figures including Floyd Standifer (1929-2007) who led the Floyd Standifer Orchestra and toured with Quincy Jones (b. 1933), and Buddy Catlett (1933-2014) who toured with Count Basie and was described by Jones as “one of the greatest bass players to ever take the stage.”
