Bill Adler is a Hip-Hop music journalist and critic. Since the 1980s he has advocated Hip-Hop in a variety of capacities, including as a publicist, biographer, record label executive, documentary filmmaker, museum consultant, art gallerist, curator, and archivist. He was the director of publicity at Def Jam Recordings between 1984 to 1990 where he worked directly with artists, including Run-DMC, Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince and De La Soul. He was also a freelance writer on musical for many publications such as the Village Voice, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, and the Daily News.
