Rap Pages, August 1998 Issue
Rap Pages was an Los Angeles based hip-hop magazine founded by Dane Webb and was published from 1989 to 2002. The publication was one of the first magazines dedicated to covering the rapidly growing hip-hop genre, and was known for its in-depth coverage of the music, fashion, and culture of the hip-hop scene. Rap Pages was an influential voice in the hip-hop community and a go-to source for fans of the genre. Despite its long history, the magazine ceased publication in 2002.
Jermaine Dupri/JD (Jermaine Dupri Mauldin, b. 1972) is an Atlanta-based record producer, rapper, songwriter, and DJ from Asheville, North Carolina. Jermaine Dupri is the son of Columbia Records executive, Michael Mauldin. Jermaine Dupri got his start as a dancer for the Hip-Hop group Whodini when he was twelve. He rose to fame in the 1990s as a record producer for artists like Xscape, Mariah Carey, and Usher. He is the founder of the southern hip-hop record label So So Def Recordings in 1993. Jermaine Dupri has produced numerous hit songs and has won several awards, including several Grammy Awards. He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Bow Wow and Ludacris. Dupri remains an influential figure in the music industry and continues to make significant contributions to the world of hip-hop and R&B.
