Rap Pages was an Los Angeles based Hip-Hop magazine founded by Dane Webb and was published from 1989 to 2002. The publication was one of the first magazines dedicated to covering the rapidly growing hip-hop genre, and was known for its in-depth coverage of the music, fashion, and culture of the Hip-Hop scene. Rap Pages was an influential voice in the Hip-Hop community and a go-to source for fans of the genre. Despite its long history, the magazine ceased publication in 2002.
Ras Kass (John R. Austin II, b. 1973) is a rapper from Carson, California. He first gained recognition in the mid-1990s for his intricate rhymes and politically charged lyrics. Ras Kass released his debut album, Soul on Ice, in 1996, which was widely praised by critics and considered a classic of underground Hip-Hop. He joined Canibus, Killah Priest, and Kurupt in the hip hop supergroup The HRSMN in 2014. Together with Xzibit and Saafir, he is a part of the group Golden State Warriors. Since then, he has put out a number of other albums, working with a variety of musicians and producers. He is renowned for his clever, socially concerned lyrics and distinctive, charismatic style. Ras Kass is still regarded as one of the most significant and influential Hip-Hop musicians of his time and is a vital contributor to the genre.
