This white suit was worn by Beyoncé (Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, b. 1981) in the music video for her song “Upgrade U,from her second studio album B’Day, released in 2006.

The song features vocals by Jay-Z and melds both R&B and Hip-Hop genres. In the song, Beyoncé makes the point of taking up space as an independent woman full of self-love, pointing out to her man how he can benefit by being with her, not the other way around.

Beyoncé rose to fame in the 1990s as the lead singer of one of the bestselling girl groups, Destiny’s Child. She would go on to release her first studio album, Dangerously in Love in 2003, which included two hit singles. She would go on to release multiple award-winning albums such as Beyoncé in 2013 and Lemonade in 2016. She has also starred in various films including Dreamgirls (2006), Cadillac Records (2008), and The Lion King (2019), as well as releasing a visual album, Black is King in 2020. With 28 Grammy Awards as of 2021, Beyoncé holds the most Grammys won by a female artist.
