The Jack the Rapper Family Affair conventions was an annual music convention held in Atlanta, GA from 1977 to 1994. The convention was founded by local Atlanta DJ, Joseph Deighton Gibson, Jr. (1922 –2000) know as Jockey Jack/Jack the Rapper. The conventions brought together African American radio DJs, station owners, artists and music industry professionals and artist from across the country and provided a platform for them to network and exchange ideas. The events were known for their lively atmosphere and included music performances, celebrity appearances, and panel discussions. As the world’s largest Hip-Hop gathering, convention attendees included Prince, Mariah Carey, Luther Vandross, New Kids On The Block, MC Hammer, TLC, Tupac, Outkast and Wu-Tang Clan.
