Text EntriesKarl Kani is a streetwear fashion brand founded by Carl Williams in 1989. It was one of the first streetwear brands to gain mainstream recognition and was influential in the rise of hip-hop fashion in the 1990s. Known for its bold graphics and oversized silhouette, Karl Kani clothing was worn by many of the biggest names in hip-hop and became synonymous with the urban fashion movement. He was also the fashion choice of rapper Tupac Shakur who in 1994 did a campaign for the fashion label and did not charge for his time. As a successful clothing brand, in 2002 Karl Kani was honored with an Urban Fashion Pioneer Award for his lifetime achievements, at the Urban Fashion Awards.
