This painting by Frank Wu was created for the cover of a humorous in-flight magazine for an imaginary spacecraft, the WSFS Armadillo. The magazine debuted at the 2005 World Science Fiction Convention in Glasgow, Scottland. The spaceship is modeled after the Scottish Expo Centre where the convention was held—a building that is nicknamed the “Armadillo.”

Frank Wu (b. 1964) is an award-winning science fiction and fantasy artist, writer, and animator. Working in many mediums including acrylic and digital means, he has won the Hugo Award for Best Fan Artist four times, in 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2009.
