3 Feet High and Rising
3 Feet High and Rising is the debut studio album by Hip-Hop group De La Soul, released on March 3, 1989 on Tommy Boy Records. The album title comes from the Johnny Cash song "Five Feet High and Rising". The album contains the singles "Me Myself and I", "The Magic Number", "Buddy", and "Eye Know". In 1998, it was selected as one of The Source Magazine's 100 Best Rap Albums.
De La Soul is a Hip-Hop trio from Long Island, New York. Members included, Posdnuos or Pos (Kelvin Mercer, b.1969), Trugoy the Dove (David Jude Jolicoeur, b. 1968), and Maseo (Vincent Lamont Mason Jr., b. 1970). De La Soul is known for their quirky lyricism, diverse sampling, Jazz Rap, and psychedelic Hip-Hop sound. Signed to Tommy Boy, their debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising is known as "a Hip-Hop masterpiece” and listed in The Source as one of the 100 Best Rap Albums.
