Beastie Boys is a Rock-Rap group from New York City. The group members include Mike D (Mike Diamond, b. 1966), MCA (Adam Yauch 1965-2012), and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz, b. 1967). After the success of their first Hip-Hop track, "Cooky Puss" in 1983, they turned into a Rap group that included Punk Rock tracks in their sound. Beastie Boys were prominent in the mid-'80s with their hit singles "The New Style" and "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)". They were signed by Russel Simmons and Rick Rubin’s label Def Jam in 1985.
