The Human Beat Box (Darren Robinson, 1967 –1995), also known as Big Buff or Buffy, was a DJ, rapper, beatboxer, and actor who was a member of the Hip-Hop group The Fat Boys. Buffy and the group were featured in the 1985 movie Krush Groove, appearing under the name Disco Three at the start before acquiring the name The Fat Boys near the end of the film.
The Fat Boys were an American Hip-Hop trio from Brooklyn, New York, that emerged in the early 80s. The group was known originally as the Disco 3, originally composed of Prince Markie Dee (Mark Morales, 1968-2021), "Kool Rock-Ski (Damon Wimbley, b. unknown), and (Darren Robinson, 1967-1995). The trio is widely known for using beatbox in their songs. The group opened doors for beatboxers like Biz Markie and Doug E. Fresh. Known for their comedic, self-deprecating rhymes, the group released seven studio albums, four of which went gold by RIAA. The first two albums of the group were produced by Kurtis Blow.
