Text EntriesYou're My Candy Sweet / King Tim III (Personality Jock) is an EP released in 1979 by Fatback Band. Signed under Spring Records, this EP was produced by The Fatback Band. "King Tim III" was released 2 months before "Rapper's Delight", making it the first hip hop record.
The Fatback Band/Fatback is a Funk and Disco band from New York that was popular in the 1970s and 1980s. The band's line-up included drummer Bill Curtis, guitarist Johnny King, bassist Johnny Flippin, trumpet player George Williams, saxophonist Earl Shelton, flutist George Adams, and keyboardist Gerry Thomas. The band’s sound merged the "fatback" Jazz beat of New Orleans into a funk one. Fatback is most known for their R&B hits, "(Do the) Spanish Hustle", "I Like Girls", "Backstrokin'" and "I Found.
