Jimi Hendrix wrote these lyrics for “In From the Storm,” which evolved out of a jam titled “Tune X – Just Came In.” It was first recorded on July 22, 1970, at Electric Lady Studios, with Hendrix on guitar and vocals, Billy Cox on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums, Emmaretta Marks on backing vocals, and engineer Eddie Kramer behind the console. Hendrix first played the song live at the Rainbow Bridge concert on Maui, Hawaii on July 30, 1970, and it was included on the posthumous release The Cry of Love, (March 5, 1971).

Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter who gained mainstream prominence in the late 1960s with hits such as “Hey Joe,” “Purple Haze,” “All Along the Watchtower,” and “Fire,” and is now celebrated as one of the most influential electric guitarists of all time.

Two sheets of lined paper, previously stapled together, the recto sides of which feature Hendrix’s handwritten cursive lyrics in black marker. The verso of the first sheet has an addition handwritten note in pencil, which reads, “[unintelligible] Urgent Shure Stereo Preamp for Record Player + 1 New Stylus.”
