Digable Planets is a Hip-Hop trio active in the 1990s. Members included of rappers Butterfly (Ishmael Reginald Butler, b. 1969), Ladybug Mecca (Mary Ann Vieira) and Doodlebug (Craig Irving), the group was known for their unique sound, blending jazz and funk influences with socially conscious lyrics. They rose to prominence with the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) which spawned the hit single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)." The album earned the group a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1994.
