Catton Bros. is a wholesale children’s clothing brand founded by Sam Catton (1910-2006), a prominent figure in New York’s Sephardic Jewish community. From their beginning, Catton Bros. imported much of their clothing from the Philippines, predating the mass globalization of the clothing industry that occurred in the 1970s. Catton Bros. also profited from licensing Disney characters, and the Disney Character Warehouse was one of its customers. However, multiple Minnie Mouse-themed Catton Bros. garments were subject to recalls in the 1990s, and in 2008, the company was issued a Violation of the California Health & Safety Code. Still, Catton Bros. remains a common brand for online retailers of vintage infant clothing.
