This outfit captures iconic elements of 1960s-’70s disco style, as signposted by the “Disco Kid!” graphic. Although missing a jacket, the matching trousers and vest invoke the three-piece suit look popularized in disco.

Catton Bros. is a wholesale children’s clothing brand founded by Sam Catton (1910-2006), a prominent figure in New York’s Sephardic Jewish community. From their beginning, Catton Bros. imported much of their clothing from the Philippines, predating the mass globalization of the clothing industry that occurred in the 1970s. Catton Bros. also profited from licensing Disney characters, and the Disney Character Warehouse was one of its customers. However, multiple Minnie Mouse-themed Catton Bros. garments were subject to recalls in the 1990s, and in 2008, the company was issued a Violation of the California Health & Safety Code. Still, Catton Bros. remains a common brand for online retailers of vintage infant clothing.

White button-down shirt with half-length sleeves and a pointed collar. Shirt is painted with gold, vertical, dashed stripes (stripes become horizontal at sleeve cuffs). Shirt is underneath a mid-tone denim vest with a V-neck and three brown buttons at the bottom. Golden piping follows the placket, and on the upper right-hand side is the golden “Disco Kid!” graphic. Vest lays on top matching denim trousers, about knee-length, with golden piping down the outside of each pantleg. Shirt is tucked into trousers.
