"Protect Ya Neck" is the debut single by American Hip-Hop group Wu-Tang Clan which was released in 1992 by Loud Records. The song is featured on the group's debut studio album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and was produced by RZA and features eight of the original nine Wu-Tang members. The "Protect Ya Neck/Method Man" single made The Source's 100 Best Singles list. “Protect Ya Neck," appeared on Wu’s independent label and became an underground hit. As massive radio play ensued, labels were offering them lucrative contracts. The group held out until it landed a deal with Loud Records that allowed each member to record solo albums for whatever label he chose where each rapper was also a free agent.

Noted as the most revolutionary Rap group of the '90s, Wu-Tang Clan is one of the largest Hip-Hop groups from Staten Island, New York City. With nine original members, the group includes RZA, GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa and later Cappadonna becoming the 10th member. The Wu-Tang Clan is regarded as a highly influential group in Hip-Hop, helping to popularize and develop the East Coast Hip-Hop and hardcore Hip-Hop styles.
