Text EntriesKid Rock is a musician renowned for his fusion of Southern rock, heavy metal, and hip-hop. He started out in the underground hip-hop scene of Detroit in the 1980s, where he became well-known for his upbeat live performances and memorable rap-rock tunes as member of the Beast Crew. Kid Rock opened local shows for Boogie Down Productions due to his connections with rapper/DJ D-Nice. In 1990, he released his debut album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast on Jive Records which helped him gain a devoted following, selling over 100,000 copies upon release. Kid Rock's early hip-hop career helped establish the groundwork for his varied style and sustained success, even though he is now largely recognized as a rock musician.
