Relatively little information is recorded about this Funk single produced by the Central District Music Productions record label. The single is credited to CD, although it appears to be the only record cut by the band. Based on the song titles and the release date, it's possible that the single was cut as a tribute to Seattle’s SuperSonics, or simply to cash in on the success of the team during their attempt at the NBA Finals in 1978.
The writer of the single, Ron Buford (b. unknown), is the son of Vernon “Pops” Buford (b. unknown – 1994), one of the premier Jazz saxophonists in Seattle, Washington history. The younger Buford has written for and performed on a handful of Soul and Funk singles and LPs. Buford’s songs have also appeared on contemporary compilations of 1960s-1970s music, including a retrospective of music recorded by recording engineer and producer, Kearney Barton (1931-2012).
