Original artwork mechanical for C/Z Records 7" vinyl compilation Teriyaki Asthma Volume Four, 1991
Teriyaki Asthma was a series of ten 7” vinyl compilations (later compiled on two CD releases) produced by Seattle’s C/Z Records from 1989-1999. Featuring bands from Seattle (such as Nirvana, Dickless, Hammerbox, Treepeople) as well as other scenes across the United States (Superchunk, Poster Children, Unrest, Babes in Toyland), the series broadly represents the U.S. underground independent rock scene in the 1990s.
This volume, released in 1991, features tracks from Alice Donut, Vexed, Icky Joey, and God’s Acre. It was designed by Seattle artist and musician Lisa Orth (b. unknown). Given the relative scarcity of computer-aided graphic design at the time, the artwork was composed of multiple layers paper, transparent mylar and rubylith – one layer for each color on the final printed artwork.
