1st Annual Pacific N. W. Sunshine Freedom Festival: Ron holden and Unknown Factor, The Tao-Chemical Co., The Time Lapse, at Alexanders Resort on Lake Sammamish, WA, June 8, 1968

This poster advertises a counterculture festival at a popular resort on the east side of Lake Sammamish. The musical line-up consisted of Ron Holden (1940-1997) and the Unknown Factor, The TAO Chemical Co., and the Time Lapse. Holden is perhaps best known for his Top 100 single “Love You So,” as well as his time with the Playboys. In addition to Holden, the Unknown Factor featured guitarist Joe Johansen (b. unknown - 1997) who played with Dave Lewis (1938-1998) starting in 1962. The TAO Chemical Co. was based out of Tacoma, Washington, and performed from 1967-1970. The Sunshine Freedom Festival was advertised multiple times in Helix magazine, the underground magazine published by the Free University of Seattle. Although the poster states that this 1968 gathering is the 1st annual instance of the Sunshine Freedom Festival, it is unclear if the event was ever reprised.
