Prototype Electric Guitar Designed by Patrick Gigliotti
This semi-hollowbody Gigliotti prototype electric guitar was inspired by Fender’s Telecaster body style, but features an innovative “Gigliotti Voicing System,” an integrated top of solid aluminum which affects the guitar’s tone and sustain.
Pacific Northwest luthier Patrick Gigliotti (b. 1957) developed woodworking and painting skills at his father’s cabinet shop in Tacoma, Washington, and in the late 1990s began refinishing used guitars as a hobby. At the turn of the century, Gigliotti began experimenting with his own guitar designs, eventually developing four models, all featuring a brass or aluminum top inset into a chambered wood body.
Blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa was an early adopter and fan of Gigliotti’s designs: “They always sound great and they have a unique balance of metal to wood that give them their own sound and feel.”
