World Class Wreckin' Cru was an electro-rap group from the Los Angeles area formed in the early 1980s. Originally formed by Compton club-owner Alonzo Williams also known as DJ Lonzo (Alonzo Williams, b. 1957) members included Dr. Dre (Andre Romelle Young, b. 1965), Cli-N-Tel (Marquette Hawkins, b. unknown), DJ Yella (Antoine Carraby, b. 1967), Shakespeare (Barry Severe, b. unknown), Michel'le (Michel'le Denise Toussant, b. 1970) and Mona Lisa Young (b. unknown). World Class Wreckin' Cru became one of southern California's most popular rap acts with singles like "Surgery", "Juice" and "Turn Off the Lights" which were popular singles on the underground West Coast scene.
